The Best Android App Ever To Find Your Lost/Stolen Phone.

Finally I have found an app which just works so perfect that there is no need to fear any more of losing your android phone except few cases but that can be very rare only in case of a very intelligent thief.

Although this app launched almost two years ago but I have just found it few weeks back ( I didn't have an android phone back then ;) ) and tried all its features and its works just smoothly that no other anti-theft android app can ever do.

The android app which I am taking about is CERBERUS.
Before proceeding further I want to tell it is a paid app but also it is worth paying for , for God sake it is for your phone security , Can't you spend just 2.99€ ( Rs. 233.85 for indians) for the security of you million dollar phone and there is also 7 day trial feature as well.

1. Ok , The first and the most awesome feature of this android app is SIM CHECKER.

With this feature on if any thief get to hold on your phone , the first thing he / she will do is replacing you sim card with his / her own sim card .

As you can see in the above image , you can enter upto three backup numbers which will be receiving alerts if anybody tries to replace your sim card and insert his own.

The alert will be a sms to the backup phone numbers containing info about the thief's phone number,his/her sim card number and the IMSI number as well and this is all information you need at first to track your phone back to you.

2. After you get to know the thief's phone number , here comes the remote controlling of the phone through sms commands in case the data/wifi/gps is not enabled your phone right now.

No problem, you can remote control your phone through sms commands and get to find the phone location very easily.

The best thing about the sms commands is that these smses will not appear as normal sms and the thief will not be able to see the incoming sms and the command execution.
You just need to send the sms and the installed app will execute the respective command.

Here are the following sms commands you can try :-

cerberus password find          (to locate your device)

cerberus password siminfo               (to get SIM card info)

cerberus password wipe          (to wipe your device memory)
cerberus password wipesd                (to wipe the SD card)
cerberus password lock code             (to lock your device with a password, replace *code* with the lock code you desire)
cerberus password unlock                (to unlock your device)
cerberus password alarm text            (to display a message and play a loud alarm, replace *text* with the message you want to be displayed)
cerberus password takepicture           (to take a picture and send it to your email address, the front camera will be used if available)
cerberus password enabledata            (to enable data access on your device)
cerberus password message text          (to display a message, replace *text* with the message you want to be displayed)
cerberus password startemergency hours          (to make the device send its location periodically, replace *hours* with the number of hours from one alert to the next)
cerberus password stopemergency         (to stop emergency mode, the device will stop sending its location periodically)
cerberus password call number           (to call a phone, replace *number* with the phone number you want to call, or don't write a number to make Cerberus call the sms sender)
cerberus password screenshot            (to grab a screenshot and send it to your email address)
cerberus password enablewifi            (to enable WiFi and automatically connect to open networks)
cerberus password capturevideo          (to capture a video and send it to your email address)
cerberus password reboot                (to reboot the device (works only on rooted devices))
cerberus password speak text            (to make the device speak a message, replace *text* with the message you want to be spoken)
cerberus password enableroaming         (to turn on data roaming)

Ok , lets catch the thief :-

After you get to hold of the thief number , you can try to locate you phone through sms command and that is
"cerberus password find" . After this sms is sent , you will be receiving one sms that the find command is executed and after one minute you will be receiving location of the phone which you can open in Google apps by entering the latitude and longitude values or just clicking the maps link.

One thing I want to tell you that sms can be sent through any phone not necessarily through backup phone numbers.

The location which you will be receiving may not that accurate because it is based just on the cellular network location to which you phone is operating with.

So , to get the more accuracy in the location co-ordinates you need to enable the data, wifi and gps on the phone through sms commands and then again fire the "cerberus password find" command to get the new accurate location co-ordinates of your phone.

Command to enable the data on the phone is :-  cerberus password enabledata

Command to enable the wifi on the phone is :-  cerberus password enablewifi

Here the password is your account password with the cerberus and first word cerberus is the keyword.

Well , to enable gps remotely , your android phone must be rooted
If your android phone is not rooted , you can't enable gps on android phones having version > 2.3.3 because google doesn't give permission to any app to do that .
But if you have an android phone and that is not rooted and have android version below < 2.3.3 , you can remotely enable gps.
and if you have a rooted android phone , you can remotely enable gps no matter what the version is.

3. Well, the third feature is useful if you are successful in enabling the data on your android phone through sms remotely.

After the mobile data is on and somehow your phone is connected to internet by connecting to any wifi-network , only then this feature will work otherwise not.

To use this feature open the https://www.cerberusapp.com/ and login to your account and if your phone is connected to the internet and then you can start tracking and use all the commands but this time through through the web interface which you are previously doing with the remote sms commands and with this also you will be able to track your phone back , the only required thing is internet to be in working state for this feature to work.

4. This feature is not big but it can come to your rescue.

How to hide the cerberus app from the app drawer.
Well , first of all you need to open the cerberus app on your android phone and enter the dial code which you would be dialing to launch cerberus app in case it is hidden from the app drawer.

After entering the dial code , go to the https://www.cerberusapp.com/  and execute the command "hide from the app drawer" and app will be vanished from the app drawer immediately and only you know how to launch the app back by dialing the code . Isn't that just super awesome...!!!

I think till now you will be able to catch the thief and get your phone back if the thief is not super smart.

Well there are some cases as well in which you will not be able to track back your phone even if the app is installed.

1. If phone is just switched off and it will remain in that state forever , well in that case you will not able to track it ever.

2. If your phone is not rooted and the thief somehow get to crack your password and enter the phone easily and
do the factory reset. After doing factory reset all your apps will be uninstalled even if it is hidden from the app drawer.

3.If your phone is rooted and thief somehow get to crack your password and enter the phone easily and do the factory reset , in this case the cerberus will not be uninstalled ( for that you need to download some zip file on your rooted phone from the cerberus help section).

But if the thief is real geek , then flashing a new rom or using a root uninstaller the thief will be able to uninstall all the apps including cerberus.

Well there are always pros and cons of the app but I am using this app only for one reason , here in india the thieves are not that smart and most of the thieves will try to replace the sim card first and by doing so you know what we can do after that. Ha ha !!!

BE SMART BE SAFE !!!
