Lets have a Minute's silence for the 9/11 victims
Structures are structures. As much as we like to provide a certain amount of personality to them, they're structures. They are built, they benefit a purpose. And at times they tumble. But individuals and societies, they have visions; they feel, they love, they feel happy and sad; they put in effort, get ahead, miss the mark and, most essentially, they hope.
"You are pulled from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie
You're in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort here"
No matter how much the destruction of the World Trade Center changed the world. And I don't think that's an exaggeration. The world did change. There will also always be the story of the bravery of the police, firefighters and everyday people that made one really have faith in the inherent goodness of mankind. Though 9/11 was horrific, it amazed everyone at the human kindness that was exhibited. And as awful as that day was, I remember that even in the midst of death, life cannot be stopped. And I think that for those who lived through it, there is a tactile quality to the memory that they will never be able to let go of. But throughout it all, the stories of human strength and endurance were the "arms of an angel" that made so many realize that despite the horrors, the strength of the human spirit is amazing.
